Christine Fowler Shearer is the President and CEO of Fowler Artistic. She has 20 years of experience in the museum field. She received her PhD in Cultural Art History from Warnborough College, Ireland in August 2017. She received her BA in Art History from Kent State University and her MA in Art History from the University of Notre Dame in 1996. She attended the Getty Museum Leadership Institute in July 2006. In 2010 she founded her own company, Fowler Artistic, to provide curatorial and support services for museums, non-profits, collectors and artists. Shearer served as the development director of the Canton Museum of Art from 2011 to 2013 and as the executive director of the Massillon Museum from 2003 to 2010. Before coming to the Massillon Museum in 2001 as its arts administrator, Shearer served as the first full-time executive director of the Cleveland Artists Foundation (now ArtNEO) for three years. Active in many community organizations, Shearer is currently the District IV Director for Soroptimist International Midwestern Region, and she previously served as the region secretary. In June 2008, for her leadership and community involvement, Shearer was recognized as one of the Top Twenty Under Forty leaders in Stark County by YStark!, a division of the Canton Chamber of Commerce. She has become involved in advocacy for museums by participating on panels and by testifying in front of the Congressional Appropriations Subcommittee of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education.
