“This is a good time to do research and to collaborate. Remember you are not alone.”

An historian of material culture, with experience restoring and curating historic house museums, public programming, and working with antique jewelry, Ohio-based Emily Rebmann has focused her career on engaging with history through object analysis and visitor engagement. Emily anticipates that museums will grapple with the effects of the 2020 pandemic and urgent social justice imperatives for years to come, incorporating feedback on necessary changes and carefully reflecting on how best to serve diverse audiences. As organizations re-open and professionals return to deferred projects, she believes that curators must prepare to be more intentional and transparent about exhibition selection, content, and interpretive techniques and that museums in general should explore fresh ways to host events and welcome visitors.
