Years in the field:

“I believe there are individuals out there who are destined to make significant contributions, we just need to create the space for them to succeed! The tech divide is something that can’t be tackled alone.”

Museum Expert Charles Gibson worked in the informal science education field for 10 years at the Michigan Science Center, serving in his final four years as the Director of Outreach. In the past year, Charlie accepted a position with FIRST Lego League to lead up efforts to expand programming nationwide. He strongly believes that informal learning organizations need to find ways to expand program access to diverse communities and hopes to see the field focus more attention on the tech divide.

Charlie is anxious to get back to attending events and programs and will continue to engage with the informal science education community. His primary goal will continue to be creating experiences that excite and engage young people in STEM, and he would like to help draw more attention to our field and the importance of informal science education in the non-profit sector.
