Sarah Jencks is until March 2022 the Director of Education and Interpretation at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, where she created and has for 13 years overseen K12 and public programs for a historic site, museum exhibitions and a working theatre, in partnership with the National Park Service. Sarah is an interdisciplinary, visionary leader focused on systems change and collective impact, with the goal of busting silos in the museums, democracy and education fields. She serves on AAM's EdCom steering committee, is 2022 co-chair for the American Association for State and Local History annual and virtual conferences, and also serves as chair of the AASLH Educators and Interpreters Committee. She holds an M.Ed. in school leadership from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and an AB in American Civilization from Brown University.
