Rachel Losacco is currently an astronomy graduate student and is looking to break into the world of museums and planetariums. While earning a Bachelor's in Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University, receiving a Master's degree in Astrophysics at Leiden University in the Netherlands, and working on her PhD at the University of Florida, Rachel has taken every opportunity to improve her science communication and give back to her community via outreach. She has taken university classes on science communication, and participated in two paid internships: one at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and one with the Appalacian Mountain Club in New Hampshire. Today she volunteers at the Florida History Museum, and gives presentations to K-12 students with the Scientist in Every Florida School (SEFS) program. All of these experiences have fueled her enthusiasm for connecting with the public in a museum setting.
