At the American Bookbinders I was responsible for the care and use of the collection, its documentation, and management of the collection database. My first collections project was to update the Collection Management Policy and related procedures to follow best standards, followed by transferring our collection management system from Koha to CatalogIt. After this transfer, I began double checking and updating the records for significant collection objects against the physical objects, as well as the usual bevy of registrar and collection manager duties (inventories, cataloging, condition reports, loans, and acquisitions). Documentation for CatalogIt procedures, as well as training interns and volunteers in its use were part of my responsibilities as well.
Other consistent responsibilities included the development and curation of temporary exhibitions, updating the permanent exhibits with new collection objects and more thorough didactics, and developing both a self-guided tour and audio tour to expand our offerings to patrons. I managed and directed programs for school and other special groups and led tours through the permanent exhibition weekly.
