As a museum professional with over 20 years experience working within the cultural and tourism sector, I am exceptionally qualified and practised to advise on art historical context. I have a thorough understanding of all the requirements to effectively curate an innovative programme with a particular focus on Fine Art and a subject specialism of Modern and Contemporary British Art.

In my current role in Curation and Collections at Falmouth Art Gallery I manage an innovative exhibitions programme, which builds on the town’s art collections, increasing accessibility to the collection through effective management, policy and programming. I lead on exhibition delivery and installation, managing all logistics of artworks and exhibitions, including touring exhibitions. Liaise with project partners, exhibitors and lenders. I also manage the hanging and packing of works of art according to standards of best practice and also train staff and volunteers in object handling. I am single-handedly responsible for managing the art collection, which includes the long-term loan of the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society Tuke Collection. I advise the Director of Cultural Services on new acquisitions for development of the collection, also disposals, loans, security and valuation.

I am also responsible for researching and sourcing period pieces that will enhance our existing collection and narrate stories in an historical context. Both of these skills feed the community engagement programme and help promote our services and its cultural offer by delivering relevant exhibitions locally, utilizing national loans to encourage footfall. In my time leading on exhibition concepts and delivery the gallery visitor numbers have increased by 12% with a consistent annual audience which amounts to twice the population of Falmouth.
