Crocker Art Museum, Sacramento, CA

Design and install new exhibitions utilizing current best

practices. Coordinate with the curatorial, education, and

marketing departments to develop exhibitions. Deinstallation

includes repacking, recrating, creating new packing solutions

and coordinating with the registrar. Installation duties include

unpacking work, allowing the registrar to make note of any

special packaging, framing and matting art, hanging and lighting

2d, 3d, and new media works of art, building museum furniture in

the wood shop (table saw, jig saw, compound mitre saw, nail gun,

palm sander), installation of vinyl, and making labels. The scope

of the exhibitions range from modest two week turnarounds to

four week, 16 member crew collaborations.

Work as a member of the installation crew team. Deinstallation

2000-2008

Plan, organize and manage the installations and deinstallations of

all exhibitions in ICA’s 7,000 square foot gallery.

Preparator responsibilities include aspects of design and layout,

organization and management of crew, lead or assist in title wall

design, framing art work, install and light work, create graphics

and labels, build special exhibition furniture, maintain the

appearance of the show, manage a budget, and event logistics.

Registrarial responsibilities include condition reports, digital

photography, scheduling shippers and contractors, and

management of shipping materials.

Member of the building committee, June 2007 opening. Space

planning, functional insight such as lighting and receptacles,

liaison to architects, construction company, vendors and

contractors.

 

Preparator

2001-2004

History San José, San José, CA

Planned, organized, and managed exhibitions in a 900 square foot

gallery, five collection’s warehouses, and special projects.

Responsibilities included art preparator skills, handling of artifacts,

building mounts for large and small artifacts, framing and matting

works of art, managed short and long term projects, organized

archival supplies, performed limited paper conservation, and

maintained the general upkeep of the facility.

June 2008 - Present

Attended and contributed to design and curatorial meetings for

the new History area (30,000 s/f). Researched, designed, built,

prototyped, and evaluated potential exhibit interactives.

Contacted museums and consultants across the country in search

of products, information, and evaluation for new exhibits.
