I help scientists and other content experts communicate their knowledge to diverse audiences. My core experience is in training specialist volunteers and designing and running public outreach events with them. Prior to entering the museum field, I contributed to outreach efforts from the content expert side.

 

I hold a B.A, M.A., and Ph.D. in Linguistics.

· Strategic planning: Determined department’s priorities, assignments, and resource allocation in alignment with divisional and institutional goals

· Personnel management: Established more collaborative team practices while supervising 2 staff positions and 200+ volunteers

· Financial management: Created annual budget for department, and tracked and reconciled all departmental revenue and expenses

· Relationship management: Designed and implemented public programming with external organizations

 

Science Communication Fellowship Program Supervisor

· Program management: Managed large-scale training and volunteering program, including goal setting and tracking and improving program materials and records

· Personnel management: Hired, onboarded, and supervised one staff position and 200+ volunteers

· Financial management: Budgeted and tracked program revenue and expenses and ensured timely delivery of grant-funded commitments

· Outreach mentoring: Advised undergraduate students conducting outreach and research activities with science center guests, and modeled outreach activities for colleagues at 2 national conferences

· Science outreach: Educated science center guests about language science concepts and ongoing research using interactive demonstrations and tailored explanations

· Research communication: Presented novel research results at 7 conferences and wrote 5 manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication
