- The basics - B.Sc. (University of Connecticut), M.Sc. (University of Nebraska), a Ph.D. in dinosaur studies (University of Pennsylvania). Post Ph.D. work includes a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, a museum scientist at the Museum of Paleontology at the University of California-Berkeley. Spent over 20 years at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science with the last 6 years as Vice President of Research & Collections and Chief Curator.
- I am also an adjunct associate professor at Southern Methodist University in the Roy M. Huffington Department of Earth Sciences, a research affiliate for the University of Alaska, and an Invited Professor for Hokkaido University Museum. I chaired, co-chaired, and served on the Education Committee of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology from 1996-2004. My work on ancient terrestrial ecosystems has taken him into over a dozen units of the National Park Service that resulted in commendations in 2000 and 2015, and won him national recognition in 2007, receiving the National Park Service, Alaska Region Natural Resource Research Award. In 2019 he received the international George Wright Society’s Natural Resources Achievement Award. I became a Geological Society of America Fellow in 2008 and in 2013 I was given the Distinguished Alumni award by University of Nebraska Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences. I've published over 125 scientific and popular papers, co-edited four scholarly volumes, and recently written a book on Alaskan dinosaurs
