As the Science Specialist at TCSD #1’s Munger Mountain l (K-5) Dual Spanish Immersion Elementary School, I am the head Science Specialists in classroom curriculum design and lead educator of our K-5 bilingual students. Three years ago I started this program with a blank slate and had the dream to develop my own science curriculum centralized on outdoor field science, place based pedagogy, hands-on learning, play learning and supporting my language learners to feel confident in becoming a scientist.
My legacy, which I leave behind, incorporated student inquiry, project centered, field science and the empowerment of students to act as local leaders in their communities. Proudly, last year we held Wyoming’s first bilingual Science Fest for elementary students involving all 430 students. I coordinated with local scientists, botany experts and involved our community's high school robotics team.
I have had unique science education positions teaching on whale watching boats, guiding field education in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, mentoring high schoolers in urban gardens in Greater New York City, leading teacher professional development programs with National Geographic’s annual PD event and international energy consulting. I have great qualifications for SEI's needs to provide education on the subjects of sustainability, climate change, energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green infrastructure, and building science concepts. I am currently seeking to relocate and expand my science specialties to support new organizations.
